Functionalities of components in Viptela

Assuming routers have been added into the inventory list on Cisco website.

When a router is powered up, it will connect to vbonds on Cisco to verify itself and where it belongs, saying Company A. It will then connect to the vbonds of Company A to verify itself.

The list showing on vmanage is from the inventory list of Cisco website.

If the router is not configured, the process stops here.

When it’s configured, the policies pushed from the vmanage will tell the router where the headends are. The router will use IPsec tunnels to connect to the headends ( the number of the connected headends is specified in the policies). The router will also download routes from vsmart.

So in gist, vsmart for routing distribution, vbond for registration, headends for traffic
